Show the seams.

Source universes, suppression, intervals, reconciliation, and rights decisions stay explicit.

The 2023 −2 difference is retained as a source-reconciliation signal, not treated as an error or smoothed away.

Universe decompositions

Crash location describes where a crash was recorded. Residence describes where a decedent lived. FARS uses its national fatal-crash census. These are related, non-interchangeable universes.

Suppression and absence

CDC WONDER suppresses small counts. Other cells may be absent for rights, freshness, or evidence-floor reasons. Public redactions do not reveal the internal reason or permit subtraction attacks.

Uncertainty

Intervals use the metric’s registered method. Band wording is hedged when its interval crosses an assigned threshold.
